Validation programme for professional qualification as an electrical installer

The electrical installer assembles and installs conduits and boxes, pulls wires and cables, installs and connects electrical components in the various boards according to RGIE/AREI to put their own electrical installation into operation.

The electrical installer:

• designs electrical plans
• installs and connects electrical components, earthing systems, lighting installations and extra-low voltage installations
• installs, assembles and wires various boards
• puts their own residential and classic tertiary-sector installation into operation
• assists with non-classic tertiary-sector electrical installations
• schedules and directs the electrician’s tasks
• communicates in a constructive and user-friendly manner with colleagues, customers and supervisors.

They mainly work in residential and tertiary buildings. They work at heights and attentively handle hazardous situations and safety and environmental regulations.

If you want to demonstrate your experience as an electrical installer at a validation body, you do so through a practical test, an interview and a written multiple choice test.

The language of instruction in the tests is Dutch. You need at least a basic knowledge of Dutch to take the tests.

You will be tested on your ability to:

• read a single-line diagram
• install, assemble, wire and connect an electrical system within a limited time frame
• put a residential electrical system into operation.
