Validation programme for professional qualification as a corner seam welder
What the occupation involves
The corner seam welder welds corner seam joints using the semi-automatic and the TIG process in various welding positions to achieve welded joints in low-alloy structural steel. He
- Assembles the components
- Organises the welding station
- Performs quality checks
He works in metal construction, in maintenance activities for the nuclear, petrochemical, food or pharmaceutical industries, in metalworking, in the manufacture of semi-finished products, in the construction sector, etc. both within the company’s own premises and on location. He mainly performs repetitive actions according to the welding plan and the welding method description. He may have to carry loads and work in difficult positions and circumstances. He monitors developments in the sector, is eager to learn and follows training courses. He exchanges information with co-workers, third parties and clients in a constructive and user-friendly manner, and is attentive to hazardous situations and safety and environmental regulations.

If you want to demonstrate your experience as a corner seam welder at a validation body, you do so through a practical test and a written multiple choice test.
The language of instruction in the tests is Dutch. You therefore need at least a basic knowledge of Dutch.
You must:
- Weld at least one multilayer corner seam joint using the TIG process within a limited amount of time,
- Weld at least one multilayer corner seam joint using the semi-automatic process within a limited amount of time,
- Compose, assemble and attach at least one welding structure with up to 12 components within a limited amount of time.
