Validation programme for a professional qualification in landscaping and gardening employee
What the profession involves
The landscaping and gardening employee performs work to create gardens, parks and green spaces so as to achieve the design and requirements of the client or principal.
The landscaping and gardening employee
- prepares the soil for the new planting.
- conducts plantings and establishes lawns.
- performs a variety of infrastructure work such as the construction of ponds, pavements, drainage systems, technical facilities or the installation of fences, small structural elements, etc.
- performs basic maintenance on the machines and tools used in their work.

If you want to demonstrate your experience as a landscaping and gardening employee at a validation body, you do so through a practical test. This may be supplemented by an oral or written test.
The language of instruction for the tests is Dutch. You therefore need at least a basic knowledge of Dutch.
You must:
- prepare the work,
- construct infrastructure works:
- pavements,
- ponds or water features,
- architectural elements,
- fences and wooden structures,
- perform plantings:
- trees,
- shrubs,
- perennial plants and
- water plants,
- establish a lawn on a defined area (e.g. with coping stones).
