The maintenance mechanic for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles performs routine checks, simple repairs and replacements as part of maintenance and quick service interventions to make vehicles roadworthy.
The maintenance mechanic for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles
- performs visual inspections for damage and wear.
- checks and replaces tyres and wheels and checks, repairs and replaces mechanical and electrical parts (brake plates, shock absorbers, batteries, etc.).
- disassembles parts.
- checks and replaces fluids and filters.
- assembles simple accessories such as plug & play systems.
- prepares the vehicle for technical inspection and prepares new and used vehicles for delivery to the customer.
- works in a workplace with little change.
- performs recurring actions according to the specified work order, regulations and schedule.
- exchanges information with co-workers and superiors in a constructive and user-friendly manner, and is attentive to hazardous situations and safety and environmental regulations.

If you want to demonstrate your experience as a maintenance mechanic for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles at a validation body, you do so through a practical test and a written knowledge test.
The language of instruction for the tests is Dutch. You therefore need at least a basic knowledge of Dutch.
You must:
- check and replace tyres and wheels and repair tyres
- carry out inspections as part of the technical inspection.
- check and perform simple repairs or replacements as part of periodic maintenance
- check and repair or adjust parts of the electrical system.
