Adjustable housing stands for a home that can easily and quickly adapt when your life situation changes. The goal is to design a house that adjusts to you. Not the other way around.
From the start, this approach provides a comfortable and safe living environment where you can stay throughout your entire life, even as you age or when your circumstances change.
A design guide is available for architects to create adjustable housing. This guide can also be valuable for future homeowners with building plans. It was developed in 2009 by the non-profit organization Enter, one of the predecessors of Inter.
- The language and structure of the guide are somewhat outdated and do not follow modern principles of clear communication.
- Additionally, the PDF version may have accessibility issues.
- Despite this, the guide still offers valuable guidelines for designing adjustable housing.
You can also download the brochure with 40 concise tips for adjustable housing, created by the former Enter. This brochure was developed in collaboration with the Flemish architects’ association NAV and the former RWO department of the Flemish government.
