Fluvius premium for solar panels for residential buildings

The Flemish Government has decided the premium will be discontinued as of 1 January 2024.

Conditions

The premium only applies to buildings

  • that are connected to Fluvius’ electricity distribution grid by no later than 31 December 2013, or
  • for which the integrated environment permit for town planning activities was granted over five years ago, and that meet the EPB requirements and for which the EPB declaration was submitted on time, or
  • under renovation for which the integrated environment permit was granted less than five years ago, if they were connected to the distribution grid before 2014.

This premium is granted for new photovoltaic solar panels with an inverter power of up to 10 kVA. The expansion of an existing setup is not eligible.

The new solar panels must be installed on the roof of a building or validated by an installer with a certificate of competence (RESCert). (in Dutch)(opens in new window)

The solar panels must be installed on the roof of a building. If it is a heated building, the roof must also be insulated (Rd value of at least 3 m²K/W). Given the limited open space in Flanders, priority is given to the installation of a maximum number of solar panels on roofs. Consequently, premiums are only given for solar panels installed on roofs.

The date of commissioning (date of AREI inspection) of the solar panels determines the premium amount and requirements.
