Labeled events EU-presidency
Belgium hosts thousands of events every year. On the occasion of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU, the federal government is highlighting a select number of these events by awarding them the official presidency label. As such, these events become an extension of the official presidency programme in which the general public or interested citizens can also participate.
In Flanders, no fewer than 113 events hoped to win the label. In the end, 55 events made it to the final selection round. As you can see below, they are divided into three categories.
Culture
In this category, you will find a series of exhibitions, stage performances, concerts and festivals that were chosen because they contribute to the image of our presidency and the image of Flanders in Europe as a State of the Art region.
Participation
More and more events in 2024 revolve around the idea of giving citizens greater participation: a youth parliament, citizen panels, etc.
