Partners

The Data Science Hub collaborates with various partners to achieve its objectives.

• The network Statistics Flanders: together with the network members, we look at where the needs and opportunities are for the application of data science and new data sources for making new statistics.
• Statistics organisations in Belgium and abroad: statistics organisations all over the world are exploring how they can best leverage data science techniques and new data sources. The Data Science Hub actively connects with other statistical organisations to jointly develop new statistics and share knowledge. We have already collaborated with Statistics Netherlands (in Dutch)(opens in new window) (Netherlands), the Office for National Statistics(opens in new window) (United Kingdom) and the High Level Group for modernization of Official Statistics (in Dutch)(opens in new window) (United Nations Economic-Commission for Europe).
• Knowledge institutions: when developing new statistics with innovative methods, many research questions arise. The Data Science Hub conducts joint research with the Flemish knowledge institutions to answer these questions. An official research collaboration with KU Leuven has been ongoing since September 2021. As part of this research collaboration, a PhD student works full-time on the challenges related to applying data science techniques and new data sources to produce new official statistics. In addition, the Data Science Hub supports 5-10 master’s thesis students and interns each academic year who conduct research on this theme.
• Flemish AI Academy (in Dutch)(opens in new window) (VAIA): in consultation with VAIA, the Data Science Hub organises a high-quality data science training offer.
